Information we keep
Depending on how you use Rifi Math, we keep:
- from Google sign-in: your name, email address and Google profile picture;
- from onboarding: whether you are a student or a teacher, where a student studies (middle school, high school or college), an optional phone number, and, if a student chooses to add it, a note on how we can help;
- for middle and high school students: a parent or guardian’s email address, an optional phone number, and when their agreement was confirmed;
- your time zone, so lesson times are shown in your own time;
- your lessons and weekly series: their times, teacher, and whether each was completed, missed, rescheduled or cancelled;
- payment records: amounts, their status and any refunds. Card details are handled by Stripe; we keep only the card’s brand, last four digits and expiry date to show which card is saved;
- a history of important account and lesson changes, such as bookings, cancellations and changes made by an admin.
How we use it
We use this information to:
- sign you in and show you your own Rifi Math space;
- book, schedule, move and cancel lessons, and show them in your time zone;
- take payment for lessons, and handle failed payments and refunds;
- send emails about your lessons and payments, such as booking confirmations, reminders before a lesson and payment updates;
- let teachers and admins run lessons and help with your account.
Who can see it
Your teacher sees what they need to teach you, such as your name, profile picture and lessons. Admins can see account details, including onboarding answers, so they can help and make corrections.
For middle and high school students, the parent or guardian’s email address receives a confirmation after onboarding and receipts for lesson payments. It doesn’t receive booking, reminder or cancellation emails.
Services that help run Rifi Math
We use a small number of service providers, who handle information only to provide their part of the service:
- Google, for sign-in, and for teachers’ calendars and Google Meet lesson links. A student’s email address is added as a guest on their weekly lesson event;
- Supabase, for sign-in sessions and the database that holds account and lesson information;
- Stripe, for saving cards and taking payments;
- Resend, for sending emails;
- hosting providers that run the Rifi Math website and its server.
Students and parents
Rifi Math is for students older than 13, and many of our students are under 18. That is why middle and high school students give a parent or guardian’s contact and confirm their agreement during onboarding. When a new parent or guardian email is added, their agreement is confirmed again.
Your choices
You can see your onboarding details in your account. To correct them, contact an admin.
Teachers can disconnect their Google Calendar from their settings at any time.
