01About these terms

Rifi Math provides personalized one-to-one Mathematics tutoring online. These terms describe how the service works and what we ask of everyone who uses it: students, parents and guardians, and teachers.

They are written to match how Rifi Math works today. When the service changes, we update this page and the date at the top.

02Your account

You sign in to Rifi Math with a Google account. Google is used only to sign you in, and there is no separate Rifi Math password.

Each student has their own account. Parents and guardians don’t have separate accounts.

  • Rifi Math is for students older than 13.
  • The first time you sign in, you tell us whether you are a student or a teacher, and students tell us where they study: middle school, high school or college.
  • Middle and high school students give a parent or guardian’s email address and confirm that their parent or guardian agrees to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy before booking.
  • Saying you are a teacher only sends a request. An admin confirms teacher accounts, and until then the account can’t teach or book lessons.
  • You can’t change these onboarding details yourself later. Contact an admin to change them.

03Booking weekly lessons

Students book a weekly series: one-to-one lessons at the same time each week, starting from a first lesson chosen from the teacher’s available times. A series can end on a date the student chooses; otherwise it runs to the end of the academic year shown when booking.

Lesson times are shown in your own time zone. Lessons take place online, and the link to join each lesson appears in your account.

A week can be skipped when the teacher isn’t available, for example on a holiday. Skipped weeks are shown with the series.

04Cancelling and rescheduling

You can cancel or reschedule a lesson yourself from your account. Each lesson shows until when cancelling is free and whether it can still be rescheduled.

Cancelling after that point may include a late-cancellation fee. The amount is shown for you to review before you confirm, and nothing changes until you do.

If a teacher or Rifi Math cancels a lesson, you aren’t charged for it, and a charge already taken for that lesson is refunded.

05Prices and payments

The lesson price is shown before you book. Nothing is charged when you book, but a card must be saved to your account first. Payments are processed by Stripe.

A lesson is charged after the teacher records how it went. A completed lesson is charged the lesson price. A lesson the student missed without cancelling (a no-show) may be charged a no-show fee, and a late cancellation may be charged its fee.

If a payment doesn’t go through, it stays outstanding in your account until it is paid, and new bookings can wait until it is settled.

06Using Rifi Math responsibly

When you use Rifi Math, please:

  • give accurate details about yourself and, where asked, your parent or guardian;
  • keep your Google account secure, since it is how you sign in;
  • be respectful to teachers, students and staff in lessons and messages;
  • use the service only for Mathematics tutoring, and don’t try to disrupt it or reach other people’s information.

07Changes to the service and these terms

Rifi Math is still growing, so features, teachers and available times can change. When these terms change, the new version is published on this page with its date.
